The biggest wastes of money in 2017

Money wasted: $16.4 billion (estimated)

Marketers pay for online advertisements based on the clicks they generate, but many of those clicks are generated by bots, not people. A March study by marketing services company WPP estimated the amount of global revenue wasted on such ad fraud would continue to increase in 2017 to as much as $16.4 billion.
