1. Over-the-counter medicines

When you’re sick, the sinus, headache, and flu medicines you think of first probably are the ones you’ve seen advertised on TV or in magazines.

The problem is, these well-known brands are more expensive because those advertising costs are built into the price. Often, you can find generic versions of these products at a cost much below the popular brands. If you take time to compare by reading the ingredients listed on their packages, you may find little or no difference between brand-name products and in-store brands. The only real difference is the price.
