So you drink bottled water at home, eh? Don’t you hear Mother Earth weeping?

No? Well, forget Mother Earth for a minute. Think about your bank account. It’s crying, too. In fact, bottled water is one of the dumb deals for which we all fall.

Rather than spending money on bottled water or (gasp) drinking straight from the tap, try buying an inexpensive filter instead. OK, so tap water isn’t technically free — after all, you are still paying a water bill.

But you will pay that bill regardless of whether you drink bottled water or not. So while drinking tap water is not exactly a 100 percent savings over bottled water, it’s as close to a “free lunch” as you’re going to find in this world.
