Federal, state and local governments in America have been known to subsidize the construction of sports stadiums through tax-exempt municipal bonds. The ongoing waste of tax dollars ($13 billion since 2000) received renewed attention in 2017, as a current House-approved tax bill proposes to end the 60-year trend, threatening current projects like the $1.9 billion Raiders dome in Las Vegas.
