The Pentagon spent up to $28 million more than necessary on camouflage uniforms that were chosen for fashion preference rather than usefulness. A report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction published in June detailed how the money was spent for a camo-pattern that replicates lush forests, despite Afghanistan being mostly desert.
