When l got married in the late 1980’s, l rented my wedding dress for $50. I figured, since guys rent their tuxes, why not rent a dress? Had small reception. Basically mints, coffee, punch, and wedding cake. I found on clearance table, a guest book, which l paid only $3.00 for. Went to Oregon coast for honeymoon, which l precooked all the food for three days. Macaroni salad, chicken, etc. That left some expenses, such as Ripley’s Believe it Or Not, Aquarium, and horse back riding on the beach. Ate at a restaurant on wedding night. Spent less then $500.

Good for you! I am impressed! Weddings don’t have to be expensive. My husband and I were married in 1978, and it was customary at that time to have a cake, nuts, mints, punch and coffee reception. Since I lived in Akron, Ohio and he in western Indiana, our honeymoon was just driving 3 days to go back to his home (yes, I moved there). 6 months later we took a week long trip visiting Chicago and my family in Akron. We have done much traveling over the years.
