With Tax Day looming, look for discounts on tax-filing software. Sales don’t get any better and prices actually tend to increase as the deadline draws near, so don’t wait too long. Filing early can also avoid a last-minute scramble and bring a refund sooner.

Eat seasonally, the food gurus proclaim. Even in February, consumers can find fresh and reasonably priced foods, including beets, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, celery, clementines, cauliflower, grapefruit, kale, lemons, onions, oranges, pears, sweet potatoes, and tangerines.
